The DC To DC converter is necessary for the various automotive accessories such as horn and lights. This can be integrated into the motor controller or designed as a separate accessory. As a separate accessory the DC To DC converter would have a potentially larger market but as an integrated part it would be more compact which would make the whole package more attractive.
